Basecamp Outdoor Gear is currently hiring part-time staff for the winter season 2021-2022 with potential for full-time employment starting in March 2022.

Position title: Outdoor gear rental attendant

Start date: Mid-November 2021

Job responsibilities.

  • Communicating with customers on day of rental order pickups and returns

  • Preparing rental kits for pick up and explaining to customers how to use the gear

  • Receiving and cleaning returned rental gear

  • Taking new and modifying existing rental orders in person or over the phone

  • Option to contribute social media posts and write blogs

Hiring requirements and working environment.

  • You must be available 2-3 days (up to 20 hours) per week between November 2021-February 2022. Potential for full-time employment will be discussed in February

  • During your work days, you'll be on-call between 8 AM - 6 PM

    • On-call means that you can stay at home unless there is a  scheduled rental pickup or return or you get a last-minute rental request

    • Actual on-site work (preparing new rental orders and/or cleaning gear) will take on average 2-4 hours per day

  • You must have a reliable car to get to our location as needed

  • You must be physically able to move and clean gear, have a sense of organization, and pay attention to detail

  • Familiarity with outdoor gear is a plus

  • Experience camping in the Southwest is a plus

Compensation and perks.

  • Base salary of $100 per day

  • +$20 per rental pickup 

  • Negotiable compensation for social media posts and blog submissions

  • Free use of our gear 

  • Prodeals on outdoor gear once you've worked for us for at least 3 months
